Colt Starting is the first step in preparing a young horse for a lifetime of partnership. At Whispering Oaks Horsemanship, we focus on gentle, structured training to help colts develop trust, confidence, and respect from the very beginning.
Our Colt Starting program includes:
Haltering and leading to teach the colt to respond safely and calmly.
Basic grooming and handling to build comfort with human touch.
Introduction to ground manners and cues, including yielding, stopping, and backing.
Desensitization exercises to reduce fear and increase confidence in new environments or situations.
Short, consistent training sessions tailored to the colt’s age, personality, and learning pace.
The goal is to lay a strong foundation for all future training, whether riding, groundwork, or advanced performance. Every colt progresses at its own pace, ensuring a willing, confident, and well-mannered horse.
Price: $1,200/month (minimum 60 days)
